Humility
In coaching, attention gained from victory is an accumulation of wealth. Wealth is not limited to monetary success. Public recognition of greatness can inflate the ego. It is important that every coach be mindful and exhibit humility. Be careful when graced with fast success. This can be an accelerator to the inflamed ego. Let us not forget that coaching achievements are a direct result of the player’s effort. If you’re fortunate enough to win consistently, be appreciative and humble. There must be a death to the ego. It is far more difficult to remain at the top than to make it to the top. Stay internally vigilant by combating the urge to grow the ego. Humble actions and words offer sustainable victory.
