- With curiosity comes fear
- Influenced by Brendon Burchard’s terrific book The Motivation Manifesto. The chapter on Fear sparked my desire to learn more.
The Face of Fear
- Fear is a disliked emotion caused by the belief that something is dangerous, likely to cause pain or a threat. – Burchard
- True Fear Examples
- Attacking dog
- Pointed gun
- Falling to our death
- Turbulence on a plane
- A child falling down the stairs
- Podcasting / teaching / public speaking
- Fear grips us
- Can be a tool for good and bad
- Fear can torment us
Fears Impact
- Fear takes us from our freedom
- We ultimately want to be free inside out and outside of ourselves.
- The internal dictator
- We want the freedom to do what we want to do.
- What is the internal voice saying?
- The straight jacket that restrains the soul/life/joy
- Fear sometimes doesn’t allow us to imagine our greatness
Types of Fear
- Fear of Judgement
- Judgment of others or being socially oppressed
- How will people react to me when I do this?
- If I make a podcast, what will people think?
- Fear of Rejection
- Talking about self-oppression
- You psych yourself out or tell yourself “NO”
- I’m not deserving
- Self-sabotage
- Asking for the desired position at work and the fear of rejection
