I recently realized that God chose King David to lead the nation of Israel. He was an ordinary unsuspecting shepherd who freed people. He did not initially see himself in this role but grew to acknowledge it. These facts go beyond the well-known story of him defeating Goliath. The spirit believed in him and lived in him. God infused leadership into David. He was not perfect, but he was willing and had good intentions. I view the call to leadership as this. If you’re a capable leader, then you should lead. Step forward into the unknown fog and announce that “I will go!” There must be the realization and proclamation that this is your calling. No matter the capacity or level of responsibility. It’s an internal fire that must be tended and encouraged to heat those around you. When you have value, it is your duty to bring it. Do not sit ideal and allow gifts to be hidden from the world.
